Over the last years, I have become fascinated by the detail of a picture. It is this that allows the viewer to disappear into the colour as they approach the canvas. This series of miniature works is the natural extension of this. They were created with a No4 sable brush; the brush that I used when working as a graphic artist. As with my larger pieces, they are acrylic on gesso and many incorporate gilding. Each one has its own structure and reality. These are more than just ideas for larger works; they are little worlds in their own right.
